The Benefits and Dangers of Facelifts

That’s one reason many people are intrigued about removing signs of aging with surgical procedures — including facelifts. Someone who has a facelift done may look many years younger after recovering from the surgery.

The two main types of facelifts that are performed today are the regular procedures and mini facelifts. The facelift that first became popular in the 1980s among celebrities is known as the deep plane facelift. This surgical procedure can remove many years off of an individual’s appearance — even up to 15 or even 20 years - from the tightening of facial muscles. The less invasive mini facelift is for individuals in their 30s and 40s. Muscles are tightened to a degree and it takes less time to recover.
In order to qualify for facelift surgery, a person who is displeased with sagging skin must also have elastic skin. Facelift candidates must also have strong bone structure.
Why would anybody want to have a facelift? Most people would like to look younger? Facelifts can make people look younger.
A skillful plastic surgeon can probably return an individual’s face to what it looked like at an earlier time in one’s life. However, facelifts cannot stop the aging process. However, a plastic surgeon can seem to turn back the clock and halt the aging process to a certain degree.
These benefits sound wonderful, but this rosy scenario needs to be balanced out with a sober look at possible negative side effects that can and do occur during facelift surgery. Some People may not survive the surgery — although that’s very rare. Some patients have had facial nerves severed with unpredictable muscular results. Incisions can and do become infected and portions of the skin can even experience tissue death in rare instances.
Are plastic surgery risks worth it?
There is no promise that if you undergo a facelift, you’ll be totally thrilled with the result. There are no guarantees.
