Thermage – The Brand New Facelift With No Cutting Required
Saturday, October 25th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedAlthough you might have never heard of it, Thermage is one of the most recent, non-invasive methods of facial cosmetic surgery. The Thermage treatment is typically performed by a plastic surgeon, but with no cutting required. The procedure is done using Thermage’s patented Capacitive Radiofrequency (CRF) technology to tighten and tone the skin.
The way CRF functions is with warmth. The skin has several layers, and one of those layers contains collagen. This collagen material starts to break down with age and this is why you gain sags and wrinkles. Other things can stimulate the collagen to break down, too, like vulnerability to the sun, family genetics, smoking and drinking, or simply not eating a healthy diet.
Whatever the cause for the breakdown of the collagen, it can be repaired applying the heat from the CRF technology. Although not fully understood it seems as though the heat from the CRF technique reacts on the skin collagen causing it to relax and also firm up. The result is less skin sag and greater firmness that all women appreciate.
The Thermage treatment CRF technology is not a laser. Laser treatment cannot be done on everyone, only particular skin colors. CRF is heat that is applied through the skin to immediately tighten the collagen and promote new collagen growth, and can be done on any skin type and color.
The effects of Thermage are somewhat visible right away. The skin will be red for a couple of days after the treatment, but visible tightening of the skin, as well as softening, is notable right away. The Thermage treatment also advances new collagen growth for up to six months approximately after the treatment. With new collagen come ongoing results for several months.
Thermage is a onetime treatment that is not essential to have repeated. This, too, is different from laser treatment, which calls for several visits and some possible downtime after each treatment. Most Thermage patients go directly back to doing their thing shortly after they depart the doctor’s office.
