Some people are amazed when they walk into a beauty salon at the equipment they see around. Lining shelves and racks throughout the salon there are pieces of equipment to accomplish any task a beauty salon stylist might have.

Types Of Beauty Salon Equipment

One of the most common pieces of beauty salon equipment is the blow dryer. Every stylist needs at least one if not two or three. Each blow dryer serves its purpose and each probably has multiple types of attachments that can be used with it. One attachment that you will commonly see attached to a blow dryer is called a diffuser. This attachment helps to create extra volume in hair. Some blow dryer attachments are even made to curl hair while at the same time drying it.

You might even notice some of the equipment built directly into the beauty salon furniture. Some types of blow dryers are built directly into chairs.

Another type of beauty salon equipment that can readily be found in use is the curling iron. Stylists might use several curling irons in any given day depending on what they need the curling iron to do. Large barreled curling irons are great for loose curls. Thin barreled curling irons can be used to create spiral curls in hair. Another type of iron that serves a purpose other than curling is the flat iron. This type of iron is used to remove frizz and straighten hair.

While the style is not as popular as it was several years ago must beauty salons will still have crimpers. This form of curling iron creates special shapes in the hair that is unlike what a curling iron can provide.

One piece of beauty salon equipment vital to any stylist is scissors. Without scissors a stylist would struggle to complete his or her job. You will notice that any stylist will have a number of scissors to choose from. Some scissors are specially designed to thin out hair when they cut.

Just as important as a pair of scissors are the brush and comb. These pieces of beauty salon equipment are mandatory during a haircut and style. Combs are used to untangle hair after is has been washed and a multitude of different brushes are used for blow drying. Stylists use round brushes while blow drying hair to create volume in the hair. A flat or paddle brush is typically used on longer thick hair where adding volume is less of a problem. They can also be used to smooth out frizz from hair.
